Club Sportif Nouzonville Ardennes from France were the sole bidders at yesterdays purse bids for EU lightheavy champ Medhi Amar’s mandatory defence against Welsh Challenger Enzo Maccarinelli. CSNA bid 12.550,00 Euro and plan to stage the fight March 19 in Charleville.


Maccarinelli against Jones Jr

Maccarinelli (41-7) beat Roy Jones, Jr, in a fight made at cruiser last weekend and haven’t made 175 since fighting Juergen Braehmer in April of 2014.

Amar (32-4-2) is unbeaten since 2012 and this is second defence of the title he won earlier this year.

Former WBO cruiser champ Marco Huck is in training for his fight against IBO ruler Ola Afolabi February 27 in Halle / Westfalen with Konny Mittermeier as his new coach. Mittermeier was himself a good pro in the late 80’s and have since trained a number of good boxers.

Huck was trained by Ulli Wegner until leaving Sauerland when Don House took over up until the loss to Krzystof Glowacki.

Spanish flyweight Xavier Urpi, 34, have decided to hang up the gloves due to injuries and to concentrate on his familylife, writes espabox. Urpi, 12-2-1, held during his career the Spanish and EU titles and beat the likes of Silvio Olteanu and Ivan Pozo. He lost the EU belt in his last fight to French star Vincent Legrand.

WBO European heavyweight champion Michael Wallisch (15-0) headline SES and Pollex Box Promotion’s promotion at the Maritim Hotel in Berlin and take on Pole Marci Rekowski (17-2). In September Rekowski was two seconds away from winning over Nagy Aguilera but was stopped in the final round. He has since bounced back with a win over Bartosz Szwarczynski.

In the co-feature middleweight Jan Meiser (10-0) defends the WBO Youth title and former lightheavy Robin Krasniqi (44-4) is looking to get his career back on track but now as a supermiddleweight
