Patera won the EBU title on a controversial split decision over defending champion Edis Tatli. Patera´s workrate and speed won him rounds while Tatli waited a bit too much and while he stunned the challenger at times he could never score a knockdown. It was scored 116-112 and 115-113 for Patera and 116-113 Tatli. Some in the Finnish press claimed robbery and had Tatli winning by as much as 117-111. There will be an official protest to the EBU.
