Amir Khan calls for Floyd Mayweather fight after unanimous points win over Devon Alexander

Amir Khan claims he has proved he deserves a shot at Floyd Mayweather Junior after outclassing Devon Alexander.
Khan was dominant throughout the fight in Mayweather's home at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and won by a unanimous points decision.
Judge Jerry Roth gave him every round, scoring it 120-108, and it was hard to argue with him.
Glenn Feldman scored it 119-109 and John McKaie 118-110, which was being generous to Alexander.
Khan said: “I just fought a three-time world champion and proved myself a force at 147 pounds.
“I didn't call Floyd Mayweather out with total confidence before, but now I have proved to everyone that I deserve that fight.

“I'm just hitting my peak now. I'm better now that I was at 26 and I've just turned 28.
“I worked very hard to put in one of my best performances. Devon gave me a great fight, but I worked my jab and listened to what Virgil Hunter told me.
“I believe I have the quickest and the best jab in the sport.
“The Mayweather fight didn't happen this year, but I believe I have earned it for next year.
“I really believe Khan v Mayweather would be huge. The UK fans would come to watch. Floyd Mayweather is one of the best fighters in the world, don't get me wrong, but let's see what happens if we fight. Let's hope we get the fight.”
Khan was in control from the first bell, landing successful combinations.
He also jabbed brilliantly and he outlanded Alexander by five to one on that count.
Alexander threw plenty of punches, but too often he missed as Khan showed great footwork to move in and out.
It was a thoroughly disciplined and accomplished display by Khan and easily one of his best, if not the best.
He refused to stand and trade with Alexander, who showed great resilience to take everything he took.
Trainer Virgil Hunter was delighted with Khan's display and said: “I thought his performance was great. He had a 9.9 out of 10 fight. This fight proves he can step up and move up to the next level of competition.”
Promoter Oscar De La Hoya said: “That's the best Amir Khan I have seen.”
Devon Alexander admitted he could not live with Khan's speed.
“I know I could have done more. He was fast. I'm fast too, but I just couldn't catch him. I had a hard time in there trying to catch him.”
