After suffering his first loss against middleweight champion Sergio Martinez in March, WBO jr middleweight champion Sergiy Dzinziruk, 37-1-0, 23 KOs, will now have to return to the 154 lbs division to defend his world title against mandatory contender and reigning European champion Lukas Konecny, 47-3-0, 22 KOs. The WBO has called for a June 16 purse bid for that bout on June 16 at WBO Headquarters in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with WBO President Francisco Valcarcel presiding. Minimum bid is $200,000.

With the nomination the Euro champ is the mandatory challenger of the world champion Sergej Dzinziruk. On April 26 2008 both fighters had already met inside the ring when the came face to face in Dresden in a fight for the WBO championship belt. The fight was won Dzinziruk on the scorecards although Lukas Konecny showed a great fight and pressured the champion and looked as the new champion but the win was awarded to Dzinziruk. Now he will get the rematch he has been waiting and fighting for quite some time.
