EURO NEWS

Heavyweight Adrian Granat (7-0) and cruiser Nikola Milalic (9-1), both promoted by EC Boxing, were both among WBA regular heavyweight champ Ruslan Chagaev’s sparringpartners as he prepared for the defence against Francesco Pianeta and both scored easy first round knockout wins this past weekend on a show in Bestensee.

Both are currently sparring with British heavyweight Dillian Whyte, who is training at the EC gym in Hamburg with Jonathon Banks as coach

Next up for Granat and Milalic are fights on the undercard to a EC Boxing show in Galati (Romania) where heavyweight Christian Hammer (17-4) headlines in his first fight since the loss to Tyson Fury. On September 5 Granat and Milalic fight in Mostar (Bosnia) on the big show topped by Nuri Seferi (36-7) vs Damir Beljo (20-0) and finally the two are featured on the undercard to a show September 12 in Gifhorn where lightheavy Eduard Gutknecht (28-3-1) headlines on a EC and Wiking co-promotion.

Finally, after all this, Granat, by then hopefully 10-0, will join the Klitschko training camp as sparring for the champ as he prepares for the showdown against Tyson Fury October 24.

July 11, Malaga, SPA:
6x3, sm: Ronny “El Llanero” Alexander Landaeta, TKO 4 Carlos “El Cubano” Mena Mijares, Spa

July 11, Magdeburg, GER,
Getec Arena, est 5000, SES/Akhmati Box Promtion/Terek Box Event, bdb
12x3: Ruslan Chagaev, 111,6, Hamburg, Ger KO 1 (2.57) Francesco Pianeta, 110,0, Gelsenkirchen, Ger
Chagaev retained the WBA regular title as Challenger Francesco Pianeta put up a poor performance when he needed to be at his best in this all-southpaw battle. Chagaev came out fast and well prepared, took a left - partly blocked - from the challenger but landed with his left hook over the top and Pianeta went down. He got up but looked scared and was soon under pressure against the ropes where Chagaeve landed with left hooks to the temple and Francesco went down, or collapsed, a second time and as he got up, very wobbly, it was stopped.
12x3: Michael Wallisch, 110,0, Munich, Germany KO 2 (0.31) Fabio Tuiach, 100,0, Trieste, Ita
Tuiach was down twice in the first but it didn´t look that bad. However, early in the second Wallisch connected for real and Tuiach went down and out. The vacant WBO European title was at stake.

10x3: Edmund Gerber, 112,2, Schwerin, Ger KO 5 (1.47) Lubos Suda, 92,1, Cze
Gerber patiently wore down Suda and finally took him out with a left followed by an overhand right. Suda was a sub for Jason Bergman. Gerber´s WBC Int´l Silver title was not at stake as Suda wasn´t approved by the WBC.
10x3: Apti Davtaev, 117,5, Kurchaloi, Rus KO 2 (1.55) Jakov Gospic, 117,0, Cro
Davtaev won the CISBB (WBC) title as Gospic was counted out as he walked to his corner cut and dazed. Gospic was hurt against the ropes and with only the ropes holding him up the referee picked up the count and it went ten and out.
8x3: Aleksander Dimitrenko, 114,3, Hamburg, Ger KO 2 (2.50) Zoltan Csala, 115,4, Hun
Csala, with a tattooed face, is an unschooled brawler and kept Dimitrenko busy with his bull rushes but was then hurt by bodyshots and was finally knocked out by a right to the head.
Tom Schwarz, 107,9, Halle/Saale, Ger W8-U Konstantin Airich, 236,75, Hamburg, Ger
80-72 twice and 78-74. Schwarz fought well but was overly careful. Airich kept coming but was outboxed and seldom able to work effectively.
