Paul Malignaggi’s fight in Milan: the weigh in

Paul Malignaggi, Salvatore Cherchi and Laszlo Fazekas

The weigh-in of Paul Malignaggi’s Italian debut was held today at Dixieland Cafè in Milan. Tomorrrow the former super lightweight and welterweight world champion Malignaggi (33-7) will fight against Hungarian Laszlo Fazekas (27 wins, 21 losses, 1 draw and 1 no-contest) on the 8 rounds distance in the main event of a show promoted by Principe Boxing Events and OPI 2000 at famed Principe Theater in Milan. The theater is the Milanese version of New York’s B.B. King Blues Club and Grill: it has a capacity of 550 people, 300 seats on the first floor and 250 people standing up on the second floor and the charm of being an historic venue for boxing. From 1949 to 1961 it hosted the fights of many great Italian fighters. In 1960 it was also the set of a movie who made history: “Rocco e I suoi fratelli” directed by Luchino Visconti and starring future French legend Alain Delon.
