Legendary matchmaker Hedi Taouab (Touab Mohamed Hedi) has passed away in Koblenz (Germany) at the age of 68. Born in Tunisia in 1947 Hedi (as everybody knew him) became a household name in boxing as matchmaker for Universum. He was with promoter Klaus Peter Kohl almost from the beginning in the late 80´s and as Universum grew so did Heid´s matchmaking. Fluent in German, English, Arabic, French and Italian he could deal with just about everyone in the World of boxing and he made all kinds of fights from four rounders to World title fights working around the clock. He was good friends with many – but also made some enemies along the way. When Universum folded Hedi worked mainly with SES.

Orial Kolaj (17-5) and Frenchman Kevin Thomas Cojean (19-7-1) will fight for the vacant EU lightheavyweight title July 1 in Rieti (near Rome). Kolaj, from Albania but now living in Rome, is unbeaten in his last 12 fights but was arrested in the summer of 2013 for what was believed to be criminal activities linked to organized crime. However, after more than a year in custody he was released with charges dropped. He came back early 2015 and have since won four straight.

In Cojean he face an experienced opponent and reigning national champ with two defences behind him.

The EU title was previously held by Serhyi Demchenko, who fights for the vacant EBU title against Medhi Amar this weekend.
