Jorge Linares vs Anthony Crolla rematch looks set to land on March 25 in Manchester

ANTHONY CROLLA looks set to get his attempt at revenge over WBA world lightweight champion Jorge Linares on March 25 at the Manchester Arena.

Linares outpointed Crolla in a standout 12-rounder in September to lift the WBA belt, with attention quickly turning to a rematch given the entertainment provided and the close result.

Boxing News understands that a deal for the return is close to being finalised and it will take place at the same venue their first encounter was held in. It is believed a few minor things need to be signed off by the WBC before an official announcement is made.

Anthony Crolla set for Jorge Linares rematch in March

Anthony Crolla has the opportunity to regain the WBA lightweight title he lost to Jorge Linares last year after a rematch between the pair was scheduled for March 25 at Manchester Arena.

Crolla lost by a unanimous decision to the Japan-based Venezuelan last September at the same venue, surrendering the world title he won by defeating Darleys Perez in November 2015.

The 30-year-old Mancunian, who has won 31 of his 39 professional contests, with five defeats and three draws, said: "There had been lots of talk on the rematch since the first fight with Jorge so I'm delighted to finally get this announced.

The New Moston boxer now has a chance to become world champion once again and is confident he can win

Anthony Crolla will get his world title rematch with Jorge Linares when the two men meet for the WBA, WBC Diamond and Ring magazine lightweight titles at the Manchester Arena on March 25.

The New Moston boxer came up short when he fought Linares back in September , losing the fight by unanimous decision.

He now has a chance to become world champion once again, and Crolla insists he has made the improvements he needs to defeat Linares.
