EURO RESULTS

By Per-Ake Persson

June 23, Kastel Kambelovac, CRO:
10x3, h: Abel Pesut, Cro  TKO 3  Öczan Cetinkaya, Ger
vacant Croatian heavyweight title - billed as Rumble in the Jungle.

Kem Ljungquist

June 22, Horsens, DEN, Forum, SPAG
10x2: Dina Thorslund, 55,2, Den  W10-U  April Adams, 54,9, Aust
Thorslund retained the WBO female superbantam title in style and it was scored 100-90 on all cards. Adams, tough but outclassed,
was shaken in the third and fourth and ready to fall in the final seconds of the tenth after being hurt by bodypunches and
a left hook to the head but Dina, stepped back, stopped punching and allowed her opponent to the last the distance as a big
smile grew on her face.
Kem Ljungquist, 106,3, Den  W8-U  Gabriel Enguema, 107,6, Spa
79-73 on all cards and 78-74 - a bit too wide. Enguema had a good third when Ljungquist a tall southpaw, tried to go on the
inside and made it close but never really went all out. Ljungquist bled from the nose in many of the rounds.
6x3: Frederik Hede Jensen, 58,8, Den  W dq 3 (1.09)  Ruben Garcia, 58,9, Spa
There was real controversy in this one as Garcia appeared to find a home for his right hand in the first as Hede, a southpaw,
seemed to walk into them. Then in the second Garcia hurt Hede with bodypunches and as the Dane bent over Ruben whaled away
and strayed very low. with a few punches. The referee broke them apart and deducted a point from Garcia without any previuous
warnings. As the round ended Garcia landed with a light punch just after the bell - and again he had a point deducted. In the
third Garcia was borderline low with a light  punch and there was a third point deducted and when the Spaniard protested he was disqualified.  It was a fight that Hede Jensen
would have lost had Garcia kept his cool and referee been less "hometownish".
10x3: "King" Kai Robin Havnaa, 90,1, Nor  TKO 3 (1,12)  Levan Lukhutashvili, 88,3, Geo
It was all over 1.12 into the third of a scheduled ten-rounder. Lukhutashvili threw dangerous hooks from both hands and appeared
to win the first two rounds. In the third Havnaa  opened up and soon had the Georgian under pressure but then Lukhutashvili began to talk and make protests apparently about
a low blow while Havnaa bombed away. A left hook to the body made Lukhutashvili go down and when he got up he walked to this corner and it was stopped with Levan still protesting. After two completed rounds the judges had it 20-18 Havnaa, 19-19 and
20-18 Lukhuatashvil, who better to learn to shut up when being punched at.
Landry Kore, 74,1, Den  W6-U  Tomas Bevzoda, 74,0, Cze
59-55 twice and 60-54. Good fight where both worked hard. Kore shook Bevzoda in the second but couldn´t follow up.
Michael Nielsen, 54,9, Den  W4-U  Stefan Sashev, 55,6, Bul
40-35 on all cards. Sashev had a point deducted in the third for a headbutt. It was a messy fight. Prodebut for Nielsen, a
local fighter.
8x3: Haris Dzindo, 77,2, Den  TKO 1 (2.45)  Istvan Zeller, 80,3 - on the day of the fight, Hun
Dzindo won the vacant GBU Continental lightheavy title (it was billed as for the 168 lb title but got "upgraded" at the weighin) as he nailed the out of shape
Hungarian with a well timed right. Zeller went down and looked groggy when he got up and it was stopped..
Amer Rasinlinc, 80,0, Den  W4-U  Przemyslav Binienda, 81,0, Pol
40-35 on all cards with Binienda ruled as knocked down in the second in what effectively was a wrestling contest with few clean
punches. Prodebut for Rasinlinc.
6x2: Jelena Janicijevic, 61,0, Ser  KO 5 (1.00)  Joanna Ekedahl, 62,7, Swe
Ekedahl won the first but took a solid beating from the second round onwards and had a poor defence, wrong tactics and was
worked over by a crude but willing and strong opponent. Ekedahal finally caved in after a heavy body attack and a right upercut
to the head and went down and it was stopped. It was scored 39-37 on all cards after four.

June 22, St Lo, FRA:

Mariusz Gnas, 79,3, Swe  W4-U  Jurijs Zandovskis, 79,1, Lat
Fight of the night, Gnas was hurt in the first and looked to be going down but it was ruled a slip. He fought his way into
it and made a fight of it against a very strong looking guy. It was scored 39-37 from the judges and 38-38 on my card.
Simon Henriksson, 69,5, Swe  W4-U  Vadim Dujim, 68,7, Ser
40-36 on all cards. Henriksson, with Armand Krajnc in his corner, looked rusty but got the job down even if he didn´t impress.

Marinkovic was hurt by bodyshots, went down and it was stopped.
Johannes Berhane, Swe  W4-U  Mirko Jovic, 65,5, Ser

Kudzovic was floored in the third and twice more in the fourth.
4x2: Jelena Jelic, 58,0, Swe TKO 4 (1-04)  Danijela Konaj, 56,0, Ser
Konaj was an inept newcomer, much smaller and Jelic, a debutant with plenty of experience from the amateurs, apparently held back and didn´t open until
the fourth. This was a gross mismatch. Konaj was a late sub for Anja Jankovic.
