Jose Benavidez Jr., Phoenix boxing phenom, next fight will be in Arizona in February

Jose Benavidez Jr, Phoenix boxing phenom, injured both his hands during his latest win, a bout vs. Puerto Rican Sammy Santana (above, left) who he dropped four times, twice in the first round, on the way to a six-round unanimous decision (60-50, 60-50, 60-50) victory in the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez title fight in Las Vegas.

The X-rays came back negative a couple of days later; no fracture, no break.

The recovery time isn't long.

Benavidez Jr. (14-0 12 KO)has booked his next fight on Feb. 3.

And it's going to be in Arizona once again.

Benavidez Jr. will fight in the main event of "Rumble at the RIver III" on Feb. 3 at the Wild Horse Pass Casino in Chandler. Benvidez Jr. had fought just once in his home state as a professional, the bout was also at the Wild Horse Pass Casino.

The "Rumble at the River III," which is being promoted by local promotion Showdown Promotions for Top Rank, was pushed back from its orginal date of Jan. 7.
