Legal actions against Universum

By Per-Ake Persson

First former WBC champ [Sebastian Zbik] threatend with legal action against Universum after not being paid after the losing fight against WBA superchamp [Felix Sturm].

Now, WBA regular supermiddle ruler [Karoly Balzsay] have joined the club and told media in Hungary that he would take legal action against Universum for not being paid for the fight against [Dimitri Sartison]. Some sources even claims that Universum owe Balzsay money for the fight against [Stas Kashtanov] as well.

Universum spokesman Steffen Soltau disputes this and say that Balzsay have received part of the purse for the Sartison fight and that the rest will be paid once the litigation against former owner Klaus Peter Kohl is settled.

However, the story doesn´t end there. It´s now a fact that former WBA heavyweight champ [Ruslan Chagaev] is a free agent and allboxing.ru writes that Ruslan will fight on the Sturm vs Geale show September 1.

Former WBO lightheavy king [Juergen Braehmer] - mandatory challenger for the EBU title - is also a free agent although Universum claim they have to give their permission before a deal can made.

Universum have claimed to have received sponsorship from Russia to go through with a major show in Moscow headlined by cruiser [Rakhim Chahkhiev].

It appears that Universum´s future is depending on the litigation against Klaus Peter Kohl. If Universum get the amount they claim that Kohl owes his former company then all is well - for now, but it must be said the future don´t look too bright.
