WBA female minimumweight champ, unbeaten southphaw Etsuko Tada (11-0-2, 2 KOs), 104.75, kept her belt for the eighth time when he defeated compatriot Naoko Shibata (9-2, 3 KOs), 104.25, by a close but unanimous decision over ten speedy frames on Sunday in Osaka, Japan.

In the first round there happened a head-collision with both streaming blood from a gash over the left eyebrow.  The lefty champ tried to keep her distance and outclass the onrushing challenger, while Shibata attempted to come close to the shifty champ and fight in the close quarter.  Tada looked superior in terms of precision and skills, winning a unanimous nod.

In another world title go, Ayaka Miyao (8-2, 1 KO), 101.75, captured the WBA light-minimumweight title as she outboxed and outjabbed defending champ Mari Ando (9-4, 4 KOs), 101.75, over ten.  Ando, making her second defense, tried to mix it up, but Miyao efficiently kept utilizing her footwork to outpunch the stalking titlist.  Miyao looked more accurate and effective by catching the willing mixer all the way.
