Former WBA cruiserweight champion Firat Arslan (33-7-2) returns to action in Schwerin on Sauerland Event´s big show that is topped by Juergen Braehmer vs Roberto Bolonti on Saturday (June 7). Arslan take on Hungarian Tamas Bajzath (9-10-1). The 43-year old Arslan fought WBO cruiser king Marco Huck earlier this year and was stopped in in six but have now decided to give it another go.

Danish paper Ekstrabladet writes today Danish middleweight Patrick Nielsen earned about 95 000 USD for his fight against Dimitri Chudinov Saturday night in Moscow. Nielsen lost a unanimous decision after a rather unimpressive performance and the paper reveals that promoter Kalle Sauerland kicked in the door to Patrick Nielsen’s dressingroom afterwards and gave the fighter a hard time.

Sauerland was very unhappy with the way Nielsen had performed and trainer Joey Gamache confirms to Ekstrabladet that Patrick didn’t train as hard he could have something the fighter himself confirmed in a press release from Sauerland yesterday. As to why he showed up in less than top shape is a different question and not answered by Ekstrabladet but it could be that 22 fights without ever getting under pressure and against relatively safe opponents at home had Nielsen to believe that this is the way it is. Against Chudinov he was under constant pressure, fighting in the other guy´s backyard and failed to cope with it.

Former cruiser champ and heavyweight contendet Jean Marc Mormeck returns as previously reported to action June 26 in Ausnieres (France). Mormeck will face Hungarian Tamas Lodi after the French Federation rejected Georgian Shalva Jomardashvili as opponent.
