EURO RESULTS

Aug 30, Halle / Westfalen, GER, Gerry Weber Stadion, est 6000, Sauerland Event, FvA
Marco Huck, 90,7, Ger W12-U Mirko Larghetti, 88,6, Ita
Huck retained the WBO title on scores of 116-112 twice and 118-100 after a dramatic finish that saw Lirghetti, exhausted and beaten already, getting nailed by a big right at 2.55 or so of the final round. Larghetti fell slowly with referee Jack Reiss slow in intervening. Huck rained powerpunches over the challenger who fell against the ropes and was badly out if as the bell rang. It was a knockout but it was ruled that Larghetti had fell after the bell. Scoring should have been 10-8 but was 10-9 on all cards.
It had been a tougher than expected 13th defence for Huck as Larghetti beat him to the punch time and time again and Huck even looked stunned in the seventh. But Huck was too strong and Larghetti faded in the later rounds. I had it 117-111.
Enrico Koelling, 79,2, Ger TKO 8 (not out) Giuseppe Brischetto, 77,2, Ita
Koelling retained the WBA I/C title when Brischetto was retired by his corner and didn´t come out for the eighth round. It was scored 69-62 twice and 68-63 after seven completed rounds. Brischetto was down in the sixth from a stiff left jab to the liver region and again in the seventh after a double left hook to the same area. Giuseppe was just too small to fight a big lightheavy and it showed.
Vincent "Iron Jr" Feigenbutz, 74,8, Ger TKO 1 (2.37) Slavisa Simeunovic, 74,8, B & H
WBO I/C interim and GBU I/C titles. Simeunovic went down from what seemed like a nothing much right, then tried to fight a little but went down again as Feigenbutz turned him around and opened. A third knockdown was on its way when it was stopped.
Dennis Boytsov, 100,0, Rus/Ger W10-U Timur Musafarov, 97,0, Ger
98-91, 95-94 and 97-93. Boytsov started confident and strong but got into a difficult fight against an ever smiling tough opponent who had nothing to lose. Musafarov was not top shape but as he tired he was dangerous with wild punches and a never say die spirit. Boytsov was in some rounds under pressure and had to smother and hold his opponent. Musafarov´s knees buckled in the fifth after a right and he was cut on the nose and his left eye was swollen but he was the moral winner for the audience. Boytsov just failed to put it together.
Mile Nikolic, 85,1, Ser W4-U Peter Hegyes, 86,1, Hun
40-35 on all cards. Hegyes was down in the second of a floater that ended up as fourth fight of the bill due to the early endings (show began 17.45 and this fight was on at about 7).
8x3: Besar Nimani, 71,0, Ger TKO 5 (2.09) Ferenc Albert, 71,0, Hun
Nimani finally hurt Albert in the fifth and it was stopped after a fastpaced, wild fight where Nimani went all out from the beginning but Albert showed amazing durability - or Besar can´t punch much.
6x3: Otto Wallin, 106,8, Swe/Aus TKO 4 (2.50) Maksym Pedyura, 104,5, Ukr
Wallin, a southpaw, boxed well behind the jab and picked off Pedyura´s bullrushes and then went for the body with his left. Pedyura was badly hurt in the fifth by this punch, retreated into his own corner, sat down and would have been counted out but the towel came in.
10x3: Murat Gassiev, 90,7, Rus TKO 4 (2.46) Leon Harth, 89,5, Ger
Gassiev took his time and allowed Harth, a strong puncher with a battered face, to work but once Murat opened up it was clear he had too much class and punch for Leon, who was floored by a right and never recovered. Gassiev just punched away with Harth almost shellshocked or hurt and another knockdown followed and it was stopped as Harth was staggering across the ring.
