Former EBU light middleweight champion [Bruno Visintin] has passed away at the age of 82 in La Spezia (Italy). Visintin won a bronze in the Helsinki Olympics in 1952 and turned pro compiling a 78-9-2 record fighting until January 1 1966 when he lost the EBU title to Swede Bo Hogberg in Copenhagen - the only fight he lost inside the distance.

Visintin became the first fighter to hold the European belt in the then new weight division when he beat Yolande Leveque (who early 66 beat Hogberg to win the title) and defended it six times.

He fought Duilio Loi twice, in 1954 and 1960, first for the EBU lightweight title and then for the EBU welterweight title losing both times but they were both great fights.
