KO artist Luca Giacon: "I'm in top condition. I will beat Steve Jamoye for WBC Silver super lightweight title"

26 years old Italian-Spanish knock out artist Luca Giacon has long been regarded as one of the top European prospects and a future world champion. Professional since 2007, he built a record of 26 wins (23 within the distance), 1 loss and 1 no-contest. The only defeat was against Emiliano Marsili for the vacant European lightweight belt. Since then, Giacon won and defended the WBA Continental super lightweight title. On March 21, at Principe Theater in Milan (Italy) he will have the chance to make it big challenging unbeaten Belgian Steve Jamoye (16-0-1) for the vacant WBC Silver super lightweight title.

“We are confident that Luca will emerge victorious – promoter Alessandro Cherchi said – because he has the power, the experience and he is at his best in the super lightweight division.” Giacon sounds confident too: “I’m in top condition. I’ve been training with my coach Orlando Soto for a long time and now I feel great. We are getting close to the fight, so we are slowing down our training sessions. We started doing 15 rounds, now we are doing 6 and in the next few days we’ll do just 4. Orlando tells me to save energy for the fight and I agree with him.”

The Giacon-Jamoye fight will be the main event of a card which will include four more fights: in the most important one, Anita Torti (9-3-1) and unbeaten French Maiva Hamadouche (6-0) will clash for the vacant European lightweight title. Cruiserweight Matteo Rondena (2-0) and middleweight Catalin Paraschiveanu (6-0) will also fight. Former K-1 style kickboxing, savate and thai boxing world champion Silvia La Notte will make her professional boxing debut.

OPI 2000 and Principe Boxing Events will promote the show. Italia 1 will broadcast the show in Italy with live transmission also in France, Poland, Finland and Romania.
