German heavy Erkan Teper (pictured) was appointed official challenger for EBU champ Tyson Fury January 22 and there was then a period for private negotiations. No agreement has been reached and the EBU are now calling for purse bids. Bids received will be opened April 13 at noon (Rome time).

Teper, now 14-0, won the vacant IBF I/C title this past weekend with a unanimous points win over Frenchman Johan Duhaupas (31-2).

Fury, 24-0, has of course his sight set on a showdown with Wladimir Klitschko and will most likely relinquish the the EBU title, which means we will see Teper vs the highest available challenger. There are some very interesting names in the EBU top five in Alexander Povetkin, Kubrat Pulev, Dereck Chisora, Anthony Joshua and Artur Szpilka and it's likely it will be one of them that take on Teper in a few months.

Jack Culcay (19-1) and fellow German Maurice Weber (21-1-1) might clash for the vacant WBA interim superwelter title May 9 in Frankfurt am Main, writes boxwelt.com. This fight will go ahead on the undercard to Felix Sturm vs Fedor Chudinov.

Culcay, now trained by Ulli Wegner and WBA # 5, relinquished the EBU title earlier this year to go for a world title.

Weber is ranked # 6 by the WBA and turned pro with Spotlight Boxing 2005 but retired after a loss to Frederic Serre in 2008. He’s close friend with Felix Sturm and returned with Sturm Promotion 2011 and have since won nine straight wins.
