July 1, Wuppertal, GER, Unihalle, Agon Sports, bdb 12x3:Vincenzo Gualtieri, 72,3, Wuppertal, Ger W12-U Esquiva Falcao, 72,4, Bra Gualieri won the vacant IBF middleweight title on scores of 116-110 twice and 117-109. Falcao was floored in the second and as he slipped in the tenth that was also ruled as a knockdown. In the seventh both men punched low - and then Gualteri threw a blatantly low punch and Falcao went down and almost out. The referee first counted then called for a time out. Falcao got to his feet but appeared to be in strong pain. The referee kept talking to him but made no ruling and no points deduction. Falcao then made it clear he could continue and the fight resumed. Gualtieri, who fights bit like a poor man's Prince Naseem, was in great shape and moved on light feet while Falcao, a southpaw, faded a bit in the later rounds. I scored the fight a draw but did not give Gualtieri a 10-8 for the "knockdown" in the 10th. As for the seventh, well, it didn't look good. The two German judges handed in identical scorecards round by round. It was a very close fight. 12x3: Etinosa Oliha, 72,5, Ita W12-U Julio Alamos, 72,3, Chi Oliha won the vacant IBO middleweight title in what on paper was a 50/50 fight but the Italian had the better battleplan, stayed close to his opponent and thus neutralized his slick boxing opponent. Alamost showed some real boxing at times but couldn't keep Oliha away. It was scored 115-113 twice and 116-112 - but Oliha coasted in the last round and that made it closer than it was. Alamos was cut on the nose and bled from the right ear as well. Good fight! 8x3: Jack Culcay, 69,8, Ger KO 2 (0.51) Juan Adrian Monzon, 69,5, Arg Monzon was down twice in the first and was in way over his head in this ome. Culcay looked sharp and finished his opponent with solid left hooks. 8x3: Martin Houben, 79,2, Wuppertal, Ger W8-U Omar Garcia, 79,3, Ven Garcia was a late sub for Octavio Pudivitr and was not in top sjape. Houben, knocked out last time around, was a bit gunshy and very careful not to get involved. Garcia tired in the later roiunds. 6x3: Dariusz Lassotta, 90,2, Ger TKO 4 (0.04) Eduardo Sacramento da Silveira, 90,3, Bra/Ita Sacraemento, a real spoiler but not very good at it, didn't come out for the fourth but indicated he had hurt his left hand already in the first. Lassotta won clearly but could never get to his opponent. 6x3: Farlin Condori, 55,3, Spa D 6 Yeiler Vazquez, 55,2, Ita Vazquez had the better punch and was stronger down the stretch - and looked like the winner. Condori can't punch much but is a good boxer. 6x3: Carlos Castillo Rodriguez, 126,8, Cuba/Ger W6-U Alfonso Damiani, 101,2, Ita Castillo, a big guy but not fat, showed real talent as he outboxed Damiani - but could never hurt his opponent and that might spell trouble down the road.
