Results from CuxhavenBy Per-Ake Persson ![]() -He´s lazy sob, said promoter Ahmet Oener, he only fights as hard as he has to. Solis is also an exellent boxer and can still be a threat. Colombian supermiddle Roamer Alexis Angulo, trained by Steven Kuechler in Germany, won the vacant IBF Latino title by stopping Argentinian Diego German Balmaceda in the second. Balmaceda was hurt by a right to the ear and was then floored three times before it was stopped 2.25. Angulo, 11-0 (10) is one to watch. Nacho Mendoza, 38-7-2, won the vacant IBF I/C light welter title with an exciting unanimous decison over twelve against Argentinian Ramon de la Cruz Sena, 13-8-2. Mendoza was the superior boxer and floored de la Cruz Sena heavily in the second. However, de la Cruz Sena knocked down Mendoza in the fourth and hurt him later in the round. The same thing happend in the sixth and it appeared that Mendoza´s chin would let him down but didn´t just recover but also outboxed his opponent and wore him down with a steady body attack for a win on scores of 117-111 twice and 114-111. Mendoza´s first defence is already set and will go ahead September 18 in Germany against no other than Turk Selcuk Aydin, who knocked out Mexican Aaron Herrera 2.29 into the eighth of a scheduled ten-rounder. The fight was made at catchweight but the plan is for Aydin to move down to jr welter where promoter Oener feels Selcuk´s strength will tell. Against Herrera it was indeed Aydin´s strenght that told and he wore down his opponent with a steady, well mixed attack. Trainer Robert Rolle was very active in the corner and instructions rained in on the fighter in both English, Turkish and German. Superwelter Uensal Arik, 19-2, took out Omar Siala in the third with a barrage of left hooks to the body. It was scheduled for eight. Former world title challenger Enad Licina, 24-4, returned to action and outscored late sub Marko Rucic but was cut and was far from his best. Rucuc was down in the second, and twice more in the sixth but was awkward, brave and determined and it made for a tougher than expected workout. It was scored 60-49, 60-50 and 60-53. It was scheduled for eight but Rucic had been told it was for six and refused to continue and it went to the scorcards after six. Supermiddle Vincent Feigenbutz, 7-1, won a hardfought six rounder over Tiran Mkrtschjan, 6-1-3. Feigenbutz shows talent but also that there is a lot to learn in regards of clean punches. Cruiser Abel Gevor, with stepfather Khoren in his corner, knocked out Polish debutant Lukas Kaczmarczyk in the second. Big heavweight Agit Kabayel, 6-0, had no problems in stopping veteran trialhorse Ergin Solmaz, 6-30-3, in the second. By Per-Åke Persson ![]() |
