Euro NewsBy Per-Ake Persson WBO and WBA superbantam champ Guillermo Rigondeaux could be defending the titles against Hungarian Zsolt Bedak with September 13 in Budapest as working date. Hungarian promoter Felix Racz is very clear when he states it´s not a done deal yet. Rigondeaux´s manager Gary Hyde is still trying along with Bob Arum to get a HBO date but if they don´t make it this is the plan B with Europe and Bedak. ***************************************** Former female world featherweight champ Ina Menzer, 30-1, will close out her long career with a farewell fight August 24 at home in Monchengladbach. Menzer (pictured) will take on Goda Dailydate, 8-0, at the Warsteiner Hockeypark. The undercard features a mixed bag of martial arts and entertainment but two of Ina´s stablemates from her days at Universum are also on the bill in scheduled six rounders. Former world title contender Dimitri Sartison, 30-2, face Baker Barakat, a very inflated 56-14-4, while former WBC superfeather champ Vitali Tajbert, 23-2, returns at lightweight against an opponent to be announced. ******************************************* Few can have missed that Dereck Chisora have been named official challenger for EBU heavyweight champ Kubrat Pulev and the EBU have set August 20 as purse bid date if no agreement are reached before that. Chisora was # 6 in the latest EBU ratings but got the official contender spot after Aleksander Dimitrenko pulled out. ******************************************** EBU superwelter champ Sergey Rabchenko, 23-0, now have Frenchman Cedric Vitu, 35-2, as official challenger and deadline for purse bids are August 20. Vitu replace Spaniard Rubon Varon, who suffered an upset loss to trialhorse Rafael Chiruta last week. Vitu is ranked # 2 by the EBU and lost a split decision to Rabchenko late 2012 in Manchester in what was Sergey´s first defence of the title he won by stopping Ryan Rhodes. ******************************************** IBO I/C welter champ Rico Mueller, 14-1, defends the title against Norwegian Geir Inge Jorgensen, 28-2, August 3 on an outdoors show at at home in Eberswalde, Germany. Also on the bill is Jennifer Retzke vs Florenze Muthoni with the vacant IBO female 147 lb title at stake while Robert Maess square off against Prince Issa El Sleimen for the German - GBA version - welterweight title.
