April 6, Falkensee, GER; Stadthalle, Agon Sports / Kuc Boxen, bdb 12x3: Bakhram Murtazaliev, 69,6, Rus/US KO 11 (2.50) Jack Culcay, 69,7, Ger Murtazaliev won the vacant IBF super welter title in a fight of the year candidate where Culcay walked through hell and came oh so close to pulling it off - if it hadn't been for the judges that is. After ten one had 99-91 Murtazaliev and then a more realistic 96-94, also for Murtazaliev and 96-95 Culcay. I had 96-94 Culcay. Murtazaliev was off to a good start using his longer reach while "Golden" Jack waited a bit too much. However, in the fifth Culcay went to work, put pressure on his opponent, trading punches and the two battled it out in a war of the likes seldom seen. Murtazaliev had the harder, cleaner punches but the volume and aggression came from Culcay. The L A based Russian looked like he was about to cave in late in the seventh but came back and in the ninth the two took turns shaking each other. Culcay was never a puncher but he has a chin made of steel. However, in the tenth he seemed to pace himself but there was nothing left. In the eleventh Murtazaliev broke through landing one hard punch after another but Culcay held up and it wasn't until late in the round that Jack finally caved in, hurt by a left hook, then another and sank down in his own corner. He was up at about "ten and out" but it was correctly stopped. 10x3: Etinosa Oliha, 72,1, Ita W10-U Ismael Seck, 72,5, Fra Oliha won the vacant IBF Int'l title on scores of 100-90 on all cards. It was one-sided but competitive all the way as Seck showed he is much better than his record. No knockdowns, no highlights. 8x3: Edin Avdic, 72,3, Aus W8-M Omir Rodriguez, 70,9, Pan 77-76, 77-75 and 76-76 - but this one should have gone the other way as Rodriguez made the fight and scored with solid hooks to the body while Avdic held on - and held on some more. 12x3: Uisma Lima, 68,8, Por TKO 11 (0.01) Haro Matevosyan, 69,2, Ger Matevosyan, it was said, left the fight in the dressing room, and Lima won the IBF I-C super welter title in a big upset in this all southpaw clash. Matevosyan protected himself very well throughout but forgot to punch back and Lima won rounds without landing much. After ten it was scored 99-91 Lima on all cards. I was a lot nicer to Matevosyan due to his defensive skills but Uisma was a clear winner at the end. 6x3; Viktor Cakiqi, 66,6, Ger KO 4 (0.39) Yeison Gonzalez, 66,5, Ven Gonzalez seemed to hurt his right hand just before Cakiqi landed with a left hook and he went down and out. 6x3: Paul Wall, 69,7, Ger W6-U Simone Bono, 69,5, Ita Bono was floored in the second but put up a good fight even if it was one-sided. 60-53 on all cards in another all southpaw fight.
