Boxe Loreni came in a close second with a bid for 17 000 Euro. Date and site is to be announced. **************************** Queensberry Promotions were the sole bidders February 2 at the purse bids in Rome for EBU middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders’ mandatory defence of the title against French challenger Michel Soro (24-1-1). Queensberry bid 153 000 Euro and will announce date and site later. Saunders is 21-0. **************************** Commonwealth lightweight champion Richard Commey (19-0, 17) will make another appearance in Denmark and take on Georgian Mikheil Avakyian (a glorified 27-18-4) on Sauerland Promotion’s Nordic Fight Night in Frederikshavn on Saturday February 7. Commey won a disputed decision over French superfeather titleholder Samir Ziani this past November in Albertslund and most at ringside felt he was lucky to get the win. In Avakyian he face an experienced opponent but should not walk into the kind of problems Ziani had in him. The Nordic Fight Night returns to the Arena Nord in Frederikshavn on February 7.
