Euro ResultsBy Per-Ake Persson Feb 15, Albertslund, DEN, MusikTeatret, Sauerland Promotion AG (Nisse Sauerland) Patrick Nielsen, 72,5, Den KO 2 (1.06) Tony Jeter, 71,9, US Nielsen put Jeter down / photo: Wende Nielsen won the vacant WBC Silver title by knocking out Jeter in the second. The Dane, a southpaw, hurt Jeter with a left upercut to the head and as the American retreated into the ropes Nielsen opened up with both hands and Jeter went down on one knee shaking his head as he was counted out. Jeter was down seconds into the first but it was more a slip than anything else but the second knockdown in the round was for real as Nielsen scored with a right-left combination. The round was scored 10-7 on all cards. 10x3: Micki Nielsen, 90,6, Den W10-U Gogita Gorgiladze, 90,2, Geo Nielsen won the WBC Youth title on scores of 100-90, 99-91 and 100-91. The Dane, a southpaw, hurt his left early in the fight and that played a part in what became a onesided rather drab affair with no highlights. Gogiashvili was game but little else and seemed ready to go anytime but somehow hung in there the full distance. Abdul Khattab, 72,5, Den W6-U AlekseinTsatiashvili, 72,1, Est 60-54 twice and 59-55. Khattab was too eager and while he dominated the action he got nowhere with Tsatiashvili, a short, stocky, capable journeyman. Abdul was stunned early in the fifth and as the Estonian tried to follow up he was hurt by a big right hook and retreated on unsteady legs. Again, Khattab wanted it too much and had to settle for a points win. Tim-Robin Lihaug, 75,0, Nor W6-U Marko Benzon, 76,8, Cro Benzon with Glory or Death tattooed on his chest fought a smart fight smothering Lihaug and scoring with good counters but the Joey Gamache trained Lihaug have learned a lot in the last few months and plugged away for a clear win on scores of 59-55 on all cards. 6x3: Anthony Yigit, 64,7, Swe W6-U Ryan Fields, 65,3, Uk Fields, a two day sub for Terry Needham, put up a great fight and in round three it was a punch for punch brawl with the Swede, a southpaw, getting the better of the exchanges with Fields cut (two stitches) over the right eye. In the fourth the action slowed but Fields stunned Yigit in the fifth before Anthony again took over the fight for a strong finish. It was scored 59-55 twice and 58-56. 4x3: Otto Wallin, 100,2, Swe TKO 4 (1.52) Ladislav Kovarik, 109,0, Cze Kovarik took a steady beating from Wallin, a southpaw but was never hurt, Referee Soren Saugmann stepped in and stopped in the final round and there was little point in letting it go on. 30-26 twice and 30-27 after three which indicates a 10-8 round on two cards without a knockdown. 6x2: Klara Svensson, 62,9, Swe TKO 1 (1.59) Veronika Hornyak, 63,5, Hun The inept Hornyak with a very original footwork was down twice before it was stopped. Feb 15, Helsinki, FIN, Ringside Gym, P 3 Boxing & Stonehand Promotions Arne Ernstsen, 74,7, Nor W6-U Timo Laine, 73,5, Fin 60-54 twice and 59-55. Nikita Dubunin, 74,8, Nor W4-U Andrejs Loginovs, 72,0, Lat 40-36 on all cards. Ken Tore Halland, 66,6, Nor D4-S Janneh Haruna, 69,3, Nig/Fin 39-38 for Halland, 38-38 and 39-37 for Haruna after what was described as a very tough fight. Toni Silvennoinen, 65,5, Fin, debut W4-U Ott Remner, 70,6, Est 40-36 on all cards, 4x3: Henri Kekäläinen, 74,4, Fin KO 1 (0.54) Maksims Gusciks, 75,7, Lat Gusciks came in as a late sub for Davids Celingarjans Feb 15, Mississauga, CAN: sw.
