Euro NewsBy Per-Ake Persson ![]() ******************** IBF cruiser champ Yoan Pablo Hernandez, 27-1, makes his long awaited return to the ring November 23 in Bamberg when he takes on mandatory challenger Aleksander Alekseev, 24-2-1. Hernandez was been out since February of 2012 when he defeated Steve Cunningham but broke his left hand. The hand didn´t heal well and there was more surgery during the summer. Hernandez was training for a defence against Erick Fields in February this year when he broke his hand again and it wasn´t until August 15 that the champion was given clearance to go into full training. By then Alekseev had become # 1 IBF contender at it went to purse bids with Sauerland winning. ******************** The fight for the EU superfeather title between Samir Ziani and Samir Kasmi that was set for November 30 in Clichy has been pushed back to December 7. Site remains the same. ******************** Mario Pisanti and Ivan Ruiz Morote clash for the vacant EU featherweight title November 29 in Latina (Italy). The show is promoted by RoundZero. ******************** Sauerland´s show October 26 continues to fill up with fights - a consequense of the postponed Marco Huck vs Firat Arslan II show and now it is announced that EU middleweight champ Marcos Nader will defend the title against Spaniard Luis Crespo on the bill. Swedish heavy Otto Wallin is also on the bill and face Hungarian Gabor Farkas.
Euro ResultsBy Per-Ake Persson Oct 5, Moscow, RUS, Olympiysky Sports Arena, Wladimir Klitschko, 241,5, Ukr W12-U Alexander Povetkin, 225,75, Rus Klitschko retained the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles on scores of 119-104 on all cards. Povetkin was floored by a hard jab in the second and was down three times in the seventh. It appeared that referee Luis Pabon could have ruled at least one of these knockdowns as caused by Klitschko´s effective holding, wrestling and pushing but Povetkin was visible shaken during the round. Klitschko had a point deducted in round eleven for holding/pushing. It wasn´t beautiful to watch but Klitschko got the job done in a ruthless, effective way. Povetkin kept trying and was in great condition but was too one dimensional in his work. The seventh was scored 10-6 on all cards. h: Ruslan Chagaev, Uzb W12-U Jodo Pudar, Ser 118-111, 117-109 and 115-110. Pudar was down in the third and eighth. Chagaev is now back at the top - at least with the WBA. c: Grigory Drozd, Rus TKO 11 Mateusz Masternak, Pol Drozd won the EBU cruiser title stopping defending champion Masternak early in the eleventh. Drozd hurt the Pole in the second and shook him in rounds six and seven as well. Masternak came back a little after that but was under heavy pressure when it was stopped. 10x3: Rakhim Chakhiev, Rus KO 10 Giulian Ilie, Rom One punch knockout with Chakhiev well ahead on points.
