Euro NewsBy Per-Ake Persson EBU superwelter champ Sergey Rabchenko´s mandatory defence against Emanule Della Rosa will go ahead May 17 in Rome on a show promoted by OPI 2000. Rabchenko (25-0) is ranked # 1 by the WBC while Della Rosa (33-1) is WBC # 4 and the winner must stand a very good chance of becoming mandatory challenger for the WBC title, currently held by Floyd Mayweather. Agit Kabayel (9-0) take on Gbenga Oloukun (18-9) for the vacant WBC Mediterranean heavyweight title tomorrow (March 22) in Istanbul in the chief support to Odlanier Solis vs Tony Thompson. Kabayel (pictured) got his career in gear last year but is untested while Oloukun, formerly with Spotlight Boxing, was last seen losing a controversial decision to Edmund Gerber and have had it tough since upsetting Lamon Brewster back in 2009 going 1-7. Once touted German heavy Steffen Kretschmann (16-2-0-1) comes back March 28 in Potsdam and take on Vienna-based Serbian Samir Kurtagic (12-5). Kretschmann, a hardpunching southpaw, turned pro with Arena Box Promotion in 2006 and was moved fast, too fast in fact as he fell apart in two fights against Russian veteran Dennis Bahktov in 2009 and 2010. Steffen have now been inactive for almost two years but have signed with SES. Norwegian featherweight Andreas Evensen (17-3-1) comes back after 13 months out April 12 in Esbjerg (Denmark) and take on Georgian trialhorse Kakhaber Avetisian. Evensen will train in Glasgow with Billy Nelson as trainer and is currently sparring with Scott Quigg. German superwelter Jack Culcay (16-1) face tough Frenchman Salim Larbi (19-4-2) in a defence of the WBA I/C title April 5 in Rostock on a Sauerland Event Promotion headlined by WBA regular lightheavy ruler Juergen Braehmer, who take on Welshman Enzo Maccarinelli. Also on the bill is a rematch between Dominik Britsch (28-1-1) and Soufiene Ouerghi (6-3). Britsch won a controversial decision the first time around but was in a lot of trouble during the fight and have a lot to prove if he is to revive his career.
