Brandon Rios can’t wait to fight Manny Pacquiao and ‘shut everyone up’by Colin Linneweber - sportsbycolin.com ADVERTISEMENT Manny Pacquiao and Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios spoke to the media on Monday evening shortly after arriving at Macau International Airport. Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38 KOs) and Rios (31-1-1, 23 KOs) will scrap Saturday night at the CotaiArena. “Bam Bam” most recently suffered a unanimous decision loss to Mike Alvarado in their March rematch. “I want to feel Manny’s power,” said Rios, 27, who once had the audacity to cruelly mock Freddie Roach and the tremors that accompany his Parkinson’s disease. “I want to feel all of it. This is the first training camp I have kept to the game plan and done everything I was told to do. Manny Pacquiao is a big step. I am going to shut everyone up and prove I am the best.” Meanwhile, Pacquiao hasn’t thrown fists since getting rendered unconscious by Juan Manuel Marquez last December. Granted, “The Fighting Pride of the Philippines” has been defeated in consecutive matches by the 40-year-old Marquez (55-7-1, 40 KOs) and Timothy Bradley. However, in actuality, Pacquiao outclassed the 30-year-old Bradley (31-0-0-1, 12 KOs) and was battering Marquez before the juicehead landed a savage overhand right that finished the tussle at 2:59 of the sixth round. “Am I confident for my fight with Rios? I am more than confident,” said Pacquiao, 34, the “Fighter of the Decade” for the 2000s. “Rios is bigger than me. Remember, Goliath was bigger than David and yet David needed just one stone to fell the giant. I enter this fight stronger than ever. I have the strength of my country and my people coursing through my body. I fight for them, not for me. I fight for their glory, not mine.” Reportedly manhandling sparring opponents, Rios is a ferocious swinger looking to brawl. Unfortunately for the native Texan, Rios is also sloppy and substandard defensively. With elite footwork and the uncanny ability to deliver punches from all angles, Pacquiao should absolutely feast on Rios’ chaotic style. Expect Brandon Rios “to feel Manny’s power” before getting knocked onto Queer Street within nine rounds this weekend.
