EURO RESULTSBy Per-Ake Persson Feb 8, Riga, LAT, Hai Centr, GENS (Vitalijs Maslennikovs) 4x3: Eduards Gerasimovs, 72,4, TKO 1 (1.28) Elvis Rozembergs, 71,9, 4x3: Andrejs Volincuks, 68,1, TKO 1 (1.23) Vadims Tihomircevs, 70,7, 4x3: Ivan Levickis, 63,3, TKO 2 (0.43) Olegs Asejevs, 65,9, 4x3: Olegs Vilcans, 65,3, TKO 1 (1.18) Reinis Stutans, 67,4, 4x3: Aleksandrs Skreivers, 78,9, KO 1 (2.01) Dmitrijs Avsijenkos, 82,1, Denis Kornilovs, 62,0, Lat W 4 (40-38) Valery Demidko, 59,9, Kaliningrad, Rus Kristaps Zutis, 90,5, D 4 (38-38) Aleksandrs Roldugins, 90,2, 4x3: Nikolay Vasilchenko, 73,5, Kaliningrad, Rus KO 1 (0.18) Eduards Milevics, 71,3, Lat Feb 7, Frederikshavn, DEN; Arena Nord, est 1000, Sauerland Promotion 8x3: Dennis Ceylan, 57,0, Den TKO 6 (1.34) Cristian Montilla, 56,2, Spa Montilla took a beating against the ropes and it was stopped. Ceylan outboxed his opponent and looked good as Montilla fell apart. After five it was scored 60-54, 59-55 and 58-56 Micki Nielsen new WBC International cruiserweight champion Micki Nielsen, 90,5, Den W10-U Julio Cesar Dos Santos, 89,1, Bra Nielsen won the WBC Int´l title on scores of 99-91, 100-90 and 100-91. Nielsen had it all his way but the Brazilian took everything the Dane could dish out without being hurt. Micki, a southpaw, does have power but tend to load up and telegraph his shots and he´s also a bit one dimensional and one paced in his work. 10x3: Anthony Yigit, 65,7, Swe TKO 6 (0.34) Kim Poulsen, 65,9, Den Yigit won the vacant WBC Baltic title with an easy tko win over Poulsen, who for the first time fought against someone where he couldn´t control the pace. Yigit made a slow start but was in Kim´s face all fight long after that. Poulsen took a beating and fell apart bleeding from the nose. He showed no fighting spirit. Late in the fifth he went down from left hooks to the body and early in the sixth he went down again from a left hook body-left upercut head combination and it was stopped. It was scored 50-44 twice and 48-46 (a very strange 38-38 from Austrian judge Josef Temml after four). Both wore Reyes gloves (Poulsen insisted on this while Anthony could choose between that or Adidas). Poulsen, who is licensed in Austria where he lives, got a six week suspension by the Danish Federation all in accordance with the boxrec system that is contrary to the EBU safety agreement. Tim-Robin Lihaug, 76,3, Nor W8-S Faroud Daku, 74,4, Nth Lihaug was in vs his first southpaw opponent and did exactly what he had been taught - and nothing more. Daku protected himself and looked for openings that seldom came and it became a rather boring fight. It was scored 79-73 and 77-75 for Lihaug and 77-76, for Daku. I had it 77-76 for Lihaug. Abdul Khattab, 72,6, Den W8-U Alex Ribchev, 72,5, Bul 77-75 on all cards - not that wrong but Khattab tired badly in the last four and should have had at least one point deducted for the blatant holding he was guilty off. The Dane won the first four and looked too quick for the Kubrat Pulev lookalike (also in style), but then tired. Ribchev had a bad cut by the right eye but kept coming and while seldom effective he dominated the action as Khattab was deadtired. 8x3: Rashid Kassem, 60,9, Den KO 2 (2.06) Guyla Tallosi, 59,6, Hun Tallosi was stunned by a hard right in the first and was in his own corner when Kassem opened up in the second. Tallosi collapsed under the pressure and hard hooks to the body and was counted out. He threw up during the count. 8x3: Simen Smaadal, 75,6, Nor KO 3 (2.29) Janos Olah, 75,4, Hun Olah kept smiling while Smaadal worked him over but caved in after a sharp left hook to the body got him. 8x3: Alexander Hagen, 79,1, Nor KO 2 (2.37) Ivan Stupalo, 75,4, Cro Left upercut and right hand combinations worked fine for Hagen in this one. Stupalo was floored twice and was counted out. 8x3: Richard Commey, 62,3, Gha TKO 4 (1.49) Mikhail Avakysian, 62,3, Geo Avakysian appeared to have no legs under him and Commey went for an early finish right away but couldn´t nail the Georgian until the fourth and it was stopped right away. Avakysian had a point deducted for holding in the same round. 4x3: Kai Robin Havnaa, 89,6, Nor TKO 2 (2.43) Meridijn Yuseinov, 90,1, Bul Havnaa, big, strong, wild and relentless in his pressure, wore down his out of shape opponent and scored two knockdowns in the second before it was stopped. Feb 7, Ferrara, ITA: Marcello Matano, 68,15, Ita W12-U Jussi Koivula, 69,15, Fin Matano won the IBF I/C superwelter title on scores of 118-109 twice and 119-108. Simona Galassi, 50,5, Ita W10-U Loredana Piazza, 50,65, Ita Galassi retained the EBU flyweight title on scores 97-93 twice and 96-94.
