Kessler vs Steiglitz confirmed for November 5th
The battle over the venue has been settled as the Parken Arena in Copenhagen will play host to the clash. The venue holds around 5,000 fans for sporting events.
Team Sauerland and SES Boxing have announced a special media tour featuring WBO Super Middleweight Champion Robert Stieglitz and three-time world champion Mikkel Kessler,.
The 30-year-old Stieglitz wil make the fifth defence of the title he won in August 2009. It is likely to be a huge test against the vastly experienced Danish warrior in his home town.
"The fans are my big advantage. Stieglitz will be very surprised when he comes into the stadium," Kessler said on Wednesday. "The fans will be driving me forward."
About 20 000 spectators are expected at Copenhagen's Parken stadium.
Kessler, 32, held the WBA, WBO and WBC super-middleweight belts before he lost to Britain's Joe Calzaghe at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff in November 2007.
He beat Britain's Carl Froch, the current WBC title holder, in April 2010 but was forced to drop out of the Super Six series because of an eye injury. The final will take place on October 29 when Froch meets Andre Ward in New Jersey.
The "Viking Warrior" has never lost in Denmark and won both his previous fights at the Parken football stadium, home of the Danish national side and FC Copenhagen.
The stadium has roof and will be heated for the fight.
"It's my chance to be world champion again," said Kessler. "I do not want to wait any longer and just sit quietly."
But Stieglitz says he is not ready to give up his title. "I will completely blank out the spectators and concentrate on the fight," said the Russian-born German.
"It has always been a huge ambition to fight in a big stadium, so this is a very special experience for me. Mikkel is a very popular man, but I will be very well prepared."
Kessler has won 44 of his 46 professional fights, 33 of them by knockout. His lkosses were to Ward in November 2009 and Calzaghe four years ago.
Stieglitz has 23 knock-outs from 40 victories, with two defeats.
"I'm better than ever after my injury," said Kessler. "I plan on my 45th victory in November."
