Teenager Robeisy Ramirez rocks World Championships
On the second day of the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Baku, Youth Olympic Games winner and current AIBA Youth World Championships gold medallist, Cuban Robeisy Ramirez demonstrated his power against European Championships bronze medallist, Macedonian veteran Veli Mumin, whose ringside abandoned the flyweight contest when the Cuban athlete was leading by 7:1. Following this quick bout, the 18-year-old Ramirez will fight against Nepal's Sudesh Manandhar.

Commonwealth Games winner and Asian Champion, Indian Suranjoy Mayengbam Singh had only one loss last year. His clear victory over Hungary's National Champion and newcomer in the team, Zsolt Dobradi is not a surprise. The final verdict of the contest was 24:8 to Singh who can now expect a hard battle against AIBA World Championships silver medallist, Mongolian Tugstsogt Nyambayar. The two Asian boxers fought in the last edition of the championships in Milan where Nyambayar had secure a short victory.
European Championships silver medallist and European Youth Champion, 20-year-old Azeri Elvin Mamishzade moved up a weight division this year and advanced to the next preliminary round after beating Indonesia's Julio Bria.
Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, Pakistani Muhammad Waseem triumphed over African Champion, 22-year-old Mauritian Gilbert Bactora just before the final gong when the referee stopped the contest. Waseem eliminated his African rival who was a seeded competitor.
Uzbekistan's National Champion, Jasurbek Latipov has just turned 20 a few days ago and could celebrate on his opening contest by dominating All Africa Games silver medallist, tough Algerian Samir Brahimi by an impressive 17:4.
Dominican Republic's big hope, World Combat Games silver medallist and Pan-American Games Qualification Tournament winner, 18-year-old Dagoberto Aguero was leading by 6:1 against defending Asian Champion, Chinese Chang Yong after three minutes. The Asian tried to turn the fight but was unsuccessful and lost to Aguero by 18:7.
Andrew Selby is the first Welsh that could win a gold medal at a European Championships. The flyweight star had a really difficult opponent in the first preliminary round. But he could win over AIBA Youth World Championships bronze medallist, 18-year-old Egyptian Hesham Mahmoud Yahya Abdelaal by 28:16.
19-year-old Turkmen Zarip Jumayev became famous in Baku at the AIBA Youth World Championships last year when he eliminated Cuba's Yunior Ribalta in the first preliminary round. The Turkmen teenager caused another surprise in the same city against Athens Olympian veteran, South Korean Hong Moo Won due to his great final round.
In the bantamweight division, African Champion and World Military Games silver medallist, Algerian Mohamed Amine Oudahi had a tough opponent coming from his continent: Uganda's Atanas Mugerwa who has been involved in the national squad since 2003. Algeria's 24-year-old boxer advanced to the next preliminary after defeating his rival by 18:10.
Oudahi's next rival will be Sweden's European Championships bronze medallist Bashir Hassan who shocked the Mauritian ringside in Baku. The Swedish boxer triumphed over Beijing Olympic Games bronze medallist and defending All African Games winner, Bruno Julie by a close 12:9.
AIBA President's Cup winner, Uzbek Orzubek Shayimov was the biggest favourite of the Asian Games last year. But he missed the medal in Guangzhou. The Uzbek boxer eliminated Makar Mazay Memorial Tournament winner, talented 20-year-old Ukrainian Mikola Butsenko by 22:13 due to his excellent final round.
Asian Championships silver medallist, Mongolian Dorjnyambuu Otgondalai recently moved down a weight division into bantamweight and started with an excellent 11:4 run in the first three minutes against Gagik Tsarukyan Memorial Tournament winner, 19-year-old Armenian Hovhannes Bachkov. The 23-year-old Mongolian raised his advantage and finally won the bout by 24:13.
