Alexander vs Maidana press conference picsNew welterweight protagonists Devon Alexander and Marcos Maidana came together on Friday to announce their 147-pound clash at the Scottrade Center in St Louis on February 25. ![]() The pair, who were both on the losing end of a supposed four-way shootout for the undisputed title at light-welterweight, are moving up a division to continue rebuilding their careers after loses to Timothy Bradley and Amir Khan. ‘These last few fights at 140 pounds were hard for me to make weight. I'm going to be stronger and faster at 147. Maidana is coming to tear my head off, but I'm going to be ready, 110 per cent,’ said Alexander. Maidana revealed he had no qualms about fighting in Alexander’s hometown, stating, ‘I'm excited to fight in the United States again. This is the Mecca of boxing. I dedicate my life to boxing and I'm taking this fight very seriously.’ Chief support for the night Adrien Broner and Eloy Perez, who face off in Broner’s first defence of the WBO super-featherweight title, were also present at the press conference.
