WBA interim-super middleweight champion Brian Magee (36-4-1, 25KOs) retained his title with a fifth round knockout over Danish challenger Rudy Markussen (37-3, 24KOs). Feb 18, Bröndby, Copenhagen, DEN, Bröndbyhallen, est 1500, SPAG (Nisse Sauerland, dpbf Brian Magee, 76,2, UK KO 5 (2.35) Rudy Markussen, 76,1, Den Magee took out Markussen with a southpaw left hook to the body. Markussen was hurt but it seemed as if he could have gotten up. Rudy was counted out in the act of rising by ref Stanley Christodoulou. It was scored 38-38 after four but the pattern of the fight was about to change as Magee made the powerful Dane miss and made him pay. Markussen had a good first round scoring with a good right at the end of the round but as Magee began to punch back Rudy faded - as always - and while he won the third Magee won the fourth and had the edge when the end came. Andreas Evensen, 57,0, Nor W10-U Julio Buitrago, 54,5, Nic 100-88 on all cards. Buitrago had points deducted in the fourth and ninth but survived using every trick in the book with Evensen much too eager to find the openings. It was a pretty terrible fight to watch. 8x3: Patrick Nielsen, 72,0, Den KO 1 (0.11) Joszef Matolsci, 73,2, Hun Matolsci was hurt by a right hook and then floored by a southpaw left. It was a bad ko and the fight was stopped right away. 6x3: Erik Skoglund, 79,3, Swe KO 4 (0.36) Juan Nelongo, 80,0, Spa Skoglund won the rounds but couldn´t really get to Nelongo but when he did - with a right hand - it was all over. Nelongo got up before ten but was badly out of it. Torben Keller, 70,5, Den W4-U Dziani Makar, 70,0, Blr 40-31 on all cards. Makar was down once in the second, twice in the third and twice in the fourth and while outclassed never really hurt. Keller shows promise though 4x?: Micki Nielsen, 89,5, Den KO 1 (1.30) Attila Szatmari, 85,5, Hun Nielsen floored Szatmari twice - it looked like a tko to me but was ruled as KO by the referee.
