PERSSON'S EURO RESULTS AND NEWSFeb 26, Kiev, UKR, Sport Life Club, Elite Boxing Promotion 10x3, c: Dmytro Kucher, Ukr TKO 8 Lubos Suda, Ukr 8x3, jw: Viktor Postol, Ukr TKO 5 (not out) Artem Ayvazidi, Ukr/Swe/Spanish license? Ayvazidi shows up sick but insists on going through with the fight and is forced to retire after the fourth. m: Marat Kulumbegov, Rus D6-S Valentin Zbrozhek, Ukr 58-56, 57-57 and 56-59. 4x3, l: Oleg Malinovski, Ukr TKO 1 Oleksandr Lytva, Ukr sm: Denis Solonenko, Ukr, debut W4-M Dmytro Mokanu, Ukr 39-37 twice and 38-38. c: Alexey Masalov, Ukr, debut W4-M Alexander Okhrey, Ukr, debut 39-38, 39-37 and 38-38. jw: Oleg Korobko, Ukr W4-U Denis Tupilenko, Ukr 6x3, lh: Oleh Nekrasov, Ukr TKO 2 Valentin Trostyanchuk, Ukr 4x3, jm: Roman Dzuman, Ukr TKO 1 Adelin Kasymya, Ukr Dmytro Kucher Feb 25, Stuttgart, GER, Porsche Arena, est 5000, Sauerland Event Alexander Povetkin, 104,0, Rus W12-M Marco Huck, 95,0, Ger Povetkin retained the WBA standard title on scores of 116-112, 116-113 and 114-114 after a less than stellar performance. Alexander just wasn´t in good shape and after winning some of the early rounds with a solid body attack he faded and allowed Huck, as crude as ever but in top shape and showing a good jab and good handspeed, simply outworked him. Povetkin bent over to his right and Huck just kept missing with his right - Povetkin was at times even doubled over and there were some complaints about this. Huck pushed, held and punched as he has done for years now. After ten an upset was likely but Povetkin came on strong in the final two with Huck´s right eye cut and almost shut. I had it 115-113 for Huck. No need for the Klitschko´s to lose any sleep over Povetkin who now must face Rahman. Huck is still WBO cruiser king with his future to be decided in the near future. Dominik Britsch, 72,3, Ger D12-S Roberto Santos, 72,0, Spa 117-112 Britsch, 115-113 Santos and 114-114 in a fight for the vacant EU middleweight title. Britsch made a good start but Santos got stronger and stronger. The German also suffered from leg cramps and picked up a nasty, vertical cut in the final round and a timeout was called to have the injury inspected. Britsch got some time, survived but was rocked in the last two and looked like a loser but his good start salvaged a draw. 8x3: Jack Culcay, 70,5, Ger TKO 7 (2.38) Salvatore Annunziata, 70,5, Ita Culcay finally floored his awkward southpaw opponent in the seventh with a right upercut. Annunziata got up but was shaken and stopped moments later. Culcay made his official debut for Sauerland - how good he can be is an open question. 8x3: Edmund Gerber, 106,8, Ger TKO 6 (not out) Alex Mazikin, 115,4, Ukr Mazikin was hurt by a bodyshot in the fifth and took a knee when the bell came. He retired in his corner and didn´t come out for the sixth. Gerber was well on top but Mazikin made him work. Marcos Nader, 72,1, Aus W10-U Baker Barakat, 72,5, Ger 100-90 twice and 99-91. Barakat was outclassed but never hurt. He and his famliy have promoted a lot of shows in the Ruhr region and are partly responsible for the feud between the GBA and boxrec as many of these shows may not have taken place as reported :) 8x3: Robert Woge, 79,2, Ger TKO 7 (2.07) Roberto Cocco, 79,4, Ita Woge, a slugger, was more controlled than in the past and wore down his opponent. Cocco landed with some shots but was overall second best and finally floored by a right-left combination. Feb 25, Savigliano, ITA: Ermano Fegatilli, 58,4, Bel WTD6-M Antonio De Vitis, 58,7, Ita Fegatilli retained the EBU jr lightweight title with a technical decision over De Vitis.
