The fourth WBC Diamond Belt will be on the line, Mayweather vs. Cotto – May 5th in Las VegasIn the ring set at the MGM Hotel, this coming May 5th, the WBC Diamond Belt will be on the line, in addition to the pride and satisfaction that join the winners. Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto, from the U.S.A. and Puerto Rico, respectively, will be the fighters that will aspire to win the belt with the highest hierarchy that currently exists in the world, a belt that in addition to its huge sports significance is made of gold and precious stones. The making of the belt consists of the following: An 18-carat gold sheet in addition to 598 diamonds, 196 emeralds, 6 rubies and 150 semi-precious Swarovski stones. So far, this authentic jewel has been fought for by Manny Pacquiao (Philippines) who won it in the Superwelterweight division by defeating Miguel Cotto (Puerto Rico); subsequently Jean Pascal and that immortal of boxing named Bernard Hopkins were the next boxers to fight for the WBC Diamond Belt, but the outcome of such an explosive bout was a draw. However, in 2011, they faced each other again and the gold, diamonds, emeralds and rubies were kept by Hopkins. In the same year, a new WBC Diamond champion was born, Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez (Argentina), when he knocked out Serhiy Dzinziruk in the eighth round. This belt is one of a kind, as it is only fought for by elite boxers that have gone into the excellence places that very few reach; we would like to add that not only precious stones does the belt have, but also the leather of which this belt is made is one of the finest that can currently be imported from Italy. The night of May 5th, the WBC Diamond belt will be on the line, and the privileged fists of five-time WBC world champion, Floyd Mayweather, and those of the brave Puerto Rican fighter, also a world champion, Miguel Cotto, will have the final decision. |
