Price to continue KO run in British title fight with SextonSam Sexton has only lost two professional fights to date and both were against Dereck ChisoraBy Craig Kemp David Price has vowed that he needs to become British champion before the Olympics to keep his progression timeline on track and 10/3 looks worth taking in the boxing betting that he beats Sam Sexton between rounds four and six. Price has made steady progress since earning a bronze medal at the last Olympics in 2008 and thanks to a carefully plotted route up the heavyweight ranks, he is still unbeaten after 12 professional bouts. Ten of these have been won by stoppage, including all of the last six, while none of the last four opponents of the 28-year-old have made it beyond the third round. Some punters may be expected another early knockout, particularly after just 73 seconds were required to stop John McDermott in the final eliminator for this title fight with Sexton. However, Sexton does represent the toughest opponent that Price has fought to date and although he is quite orthodox, he does have the punching speed and footwork that could potentially pose a problem. Price may therefore decide to be a bit more watchful in the opening rounds to get his eye in and get used to the speed and angles that he is working with. Sexton’s only two defeats to date have both been against Dereck Chisora and this clearly is not weak form, given that Chisora saw out 12 rounds with Vitali Klitschko. But Price does have more punch power than Sexton or Chisora and as proved by his recent record, he can close out fights when the opportunity arises. Price is 1/8 to beat Sexton and 11/1 to repeat his first-round stoppage of McDermott, which is not beyond the realms of possibility if he can land a big shot early. |
